Updated to show information for academic year 2016/2017
Our Key Stage 4 students are supported in their transition by having opportunities to visit local post 16 providers. They are offered the chance to take part in a work-skills programme, one day a week, at Riseholme College. During this time they learn skills in Agriculture, Horticulture and Small Animal Care. It is hoped that by them becoming more familiar with new settings, the transition process will be less stressful. The skills learnt also build on Life-Skills being taught in the ASDAN curriculum, ensuring they are ready to become more independent. School actively supports parents in visiting the both Riseholme College and Lincoln College, by collaboratively arranging opportunities for families and carers to tour the setting, meet staff and learn about the courses on offer. Assistance is provided during the application process to those families who might have difficulties in completing the application form.
To support the transition, students are actively encourage to become involved with the National Citizens Service. As Year 11's finish school in the third week of June, this is an ideal time for them to meet new people, learn new skills and broaden their horizons, in a supportive environment. A number of our students have successfully attended and have gained a lot of confidence from the experience.
