St Christopher’s School want to ensure all pupils are secure in the English language and therefore we do not prioritise a modern foreign language (MFL) in our curriculum. 

In the interests of supporting our pupils with cultural knowledge, St Christopher’s School have adopted the sign language of Makaton as our equivalent MFL. Pupils across the school will be taught new signs weekly and supported in practicing these as often as possible. Staff will encourage pupils to use signing in addition to their usual communication. Please see class curriculum maps for more details.
