Time Out for Parents – ‘Learning Disabilities: Strategies to help and support’

A 10 week course for parents / carers

Starts Monday 29th April 2019

St Christopher's School, Lincoln

Come and join us!!!

The course tackles a range of aspects affecting parents and carers of children with learning disabilities. The issues covered include understanding behaviour, strategies to manage behaviour, autism, problems around sleep, using visual supports, and looking ahead to teenage issues – see over page for more details.

This course has been run at school for many years by Carol Bentley and Helen Reed. This year Clare Pattison is delivering the course also. It has always proved to be a successful and popular course, which has also enabled parents to network with one another, and access a wide range of information sources.

The course starts on Monday 29th April 2019 and will run for 10 weeks ending on Monday 15th July 2019.

Feedback from parents...

"I feel I have gained confidence in ways to help my child, and knowledge about autism and understanding it more."

"I now have the confidence to tackle issues at home, ideas to act on when my child's behaviour changes, and understanding of how the environment can affect behaviour."

The course is a good opportunity to have time to reflect on how we deal with day to day situations, and how things could be done differently to make life easier in the long run."

I now have so much more insight into understanding behaviour. And knowing that you are not the only person going through this king of thing is so important too."

"I've learned a lot, met some great people, and made new friends too!"
